UHCL to host career workshop

Learn tips on how to maximize your career potential by attending the University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Career Exploration Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and March 1 in the Student Services and Classroom building, room 3109, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., in Houston.


Participants will work in a small group setting with experienced counselors and psychologists as they review educational and work experience and more.


Registration and a prior intake appointment with a counselor are required. The cost is $200 for the general public with discounts provided to current college students and University of Houston-Clear Lake alumni and staff.

Healthy communication tips


Communication is at the core of successful relationships, especially in the workplace.


Join University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement, or SLICE, as they welcome University of Houston’s Office of Counseling Psychologist Gary Adams and Doctoral Psychology Intern Elil Yuvarajan to the 2014 Leadership Workshops Series to discuss how effective communication can develop healthy, productive relationships with others.


The workshop, “It’s Not What You Say, But How You Say It. Speaking to the Emotions and Aspirations of Others,” is 10 a.m. to noon Friday in the university’s Student Services and Classroom Building, Room 2310, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., in Houston.


Adams has worked in university and college settings for the past 13 years. His areas of interest include the interface of psychology and spirituality, anxiety, the psychological impact of chronic and/or life threatening medical conditions and major mental illnesses.


Admission is free, but preregistration is required.
