A team of researchers at Wake Forest University has received a $3.9 million grant to study why some people have exceptional moral character and how it can be improved.

The Templeton Religion Trust will pay for The Beacon Project, a three-year initiative to find and define morally exceptional people and try to better understand how to improve moral character, WFU said in a statement. The grant is among the largest ever received for social-sciences research at Wake Forest, according to the university.
