Weis giving master class in psychology at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas coach Charlie Weis is hopeful that lessons learned from a season-opening win over South Dakota State have sunk in for Saturday's game against Rice.

Weis called the 34-17 victory "coaching utopia," because the Jayhawks won the game while making a slew of mistakes. That created plenty of teachable moments and the best possible environment for Weis to get lessons across before facing the Owls in Week 2.

Things aren't about to get any easier for Kansas, either.

After facing Rice at Memorial Stadium, the Jayhawks must prepare for No. 20 TCU, one of the two Big 12 newcomers and one of the nation's top programs over the past decade.
