(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The book is compiled by a number of Muslim thinkers who unanimously maintain that the latest Islamic wit to present psychological theories was Mula Sadra, argued Mehdi Ganji, the book’s translator.

He went on to say that Laleh Eftekhari is one of the writers who is an Iranian scholar living in the US. The book is written after an in-depth scrutiny of works by Islamic thinkers on psychology and human personality.

He went on to say that in the book, Freud's theory of psychology is contrasted with the views of Muslim scholars and his Superego is compared with the Conscience.

He further added that the book is the first Persian rendition of an English book on Muslims’ view on human psychology. Other books in the market, he asserted, are translations of Arabic books in the field.

The authors have incorporated religious and transcendental concepts that shape human personality, which are based on the Qur'n and the works of early Muslim scholars. It is not a book on psychotherapy, however, the views on human nature are important for the development of an Islamic approach to therapy.

The text is timely due to the increased attention to Islam and its significance in the lives of more than one billion adherents, and also because modern psychology is demonstrating a new interest in indigenous and alternative perspectives of psychology.
