‘The Master’ Opens Nationwide Today

The film "The Master" hits theaters nationwide on Sept. 21, including our own Coolidge Corner. It’s getting a lot of buzz, which may seem unusual for a psychological film that has zero special effects and absolutely no testosterone-fueled action scenes. Film critic Garen Daly joined us in Studio 3 to discuss the film's psychological drama.

The Coolidge Corner theater is not only showing "The Master" — it's showing the film as director Paul Thomas Anderson intended, on 70 mm film. Edgar Herwick checked in with the folks at the Coolidge for an explainer about what makes the 70 mm print so special and why they went out of their way to show it in the larger format.

Guests:
Garen Daly, film critic
Jesse Hassinger, program manager at the Coolidge Corner Theatre
