Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center supports family and child counseling through a yearly Missouri Psychology Scholarship for students majoring in Psychology or related fields. Deadline for submissions is March 15, 2015.

As Southeast Missouri’s leading Family and Child Counseling specialists, Tender Hearts wants to support prospective Family and Child Counselors who will be the future of the Mental Health profession. Tender Hearts is dedicated to bringing the best quality of care and professionalism to children and families in the Cape Girardeau, Missouri area. The $500 Missouri Psychology Scholarship is aimed at assisting future professionals just beginning their journey in the Counseling profession.
“This will be a yearly, ongoing Missouri Psychology Scholarship aimed at helping new Family and Child Counseling professionals get a solid start toward their education,” said Stephanie Anderson, Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center Administrative Director. “With the local economic situation being as it is, new Family and Child Counseling students need every bit of help they can get. Tender Hearts is dedicated to helping students relieve some of that financial burden so they can focus more on the educational aspects of the program.”
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), Mental Health Counselors and Marriage Family Therapists positions will grow at 29% (Much faster than average) over the 2012-2022 period. “This means that demand for Child Counselors and Family Counselors will likely continue to rise,” says Shannon Anderson MA, LPC, NCC, Tender Hearts Child Therapy Center Clinical Director. “We understand that the need for Licensed Professional Counselors is high and want to provide financial help to new students who may be joining the profession,” said Shannon Anderson.
