San Diego Veterans Heal Unseen Wounds With Harvesting Happiness for Heroes on …

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 17, 2012) - Is positive psychology effective in healing post combat veterans challenged with PTSD and TBI? According to Lisa Cypers Kamen, Happiness Expert, Wellbeing Post Combat Specialist, and Director of 501 (c) (3) nonprofit Harvesting Happiness for Heroes, the 25% success rate of the HH4Heroes veteran wellbeing work speaks for itself. HH4Heroes' unique positive psychology curriculum reflects an overall increase in sustained personal happiness and reintegration management for veterans, and will serve as the focus of her keynote address at the upcoming UNSEEN WOUND Armed Forces Day event and "friend raiser", on May 19th at San Diego's Liberty Station on Historic Decatur Road. HH4Heroes' presence at the UNSEEN WOUND's event is especially significant in raising local awareness for what the Voice of San Diego states is home to 28,666 veterans, making the city home to one of the largest population of veterans that have served in the Iraq and Afghanistan war alone.

Sharing the stage with fellow keynote speakers, Rick Collins, Founder of the UNSEEN WOUND and Colonel David Sutherland, Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Warrior and Family Support, Kamen will present the HH4Heroes.org solutions based mission in post combat wellbeing to military families, spouses, caretakers, families of the fallen and veteran attendees at the public event. HH4Heroes and the UNSEEN WOUND hope to raise public awareness for treatment needs of veterans challenged with the invisible effects of PTSD and TBI such as; depression, substance abuse, communication deficiency, anger management, difficulty maintaining relationships, sustained wellbeing health, suicide, deficient parenting, joblessness and homelessness.

Appearing on San Diego's CBS8 on Wednesday, May 16th raising awareness for the event, Kamen stated, "We all have the tools and resources for our healing, sometimes we just need coaching to get through it. Combat trauma is a very normal part of returning home from war, and there are things that we can do in a positive way to help reintegrate and successfully readapt warrior skills to civilian society." Unique to HH4Heroes, is the organization's curriculum which expands the reach and effectiveness of the individual post combat veteran needs, to address the entire circle of caregivers and support outlets that encompass the veteran upon his/her return home.

Ms. Kamen will take the stage at 4:45 pm to speak on the role that reconstructing personal happiness plays in post combat transition into civilian life. Kamen will be on site as an expert to meet with event attendees and veterans, answer questions regarding HH4Heroes' positive psychology modalities, and address public awareness for the needs of veterans regarding PTSD/TBI and MST (military sexual trauma). HH4Heroes will be joined by other veteran support organizations such as; Wounded Warrior Homes, Operation Amped, American Red Cross, Helmets to Hardhats, Challenged America, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and San Diego Brain Injury Foundation among others. All attendees will enjoy entertainment from local performers, lending a spirit of happiness to the hopeful support of new veteran friends within the San Diego community.
