Parkland School District recognizes achievements

Parkland School District recognizes several people who have made major accomplishments throughout the 2012-13 school year, including those who earned diplomat status, received first place at art exhibitions and contests and were named Outstanding Co-op student.

Matthew Carlson, Psy.D. and School Psychologist at Orefield Middle School as well as a 2009 graduate of the School of Graduate Studies has earned the distinction of diplomat status in the field of clinical psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

High School student Alyssa Tauber received the first place 15th Congressional District Art Award for 2013 at An Artistic Discovery – The 15th Congressional District High School Art Competition and National Exhibition. The first place winning entry from each school district will be hung in The Cannon Tunnel Gallery of the United States Capitol for one year.

Hadrian Gable, of Parkland High, was named Outstanding Co-op Students by Lutron Electronics. Students were selected based on employer evaluations, attendance and overall job performance.

Lucy Paige Shilling, third grade student at Parkway Manor Elementary School, won first place for her drawings of her story "Pool Reflections from PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest.

Parkland High School's Envirothon Team won the county Envirothon competition this week. They will take part in the state competition May 21 and 22. The team includes Ryan Heydt, Taylor Blasko, Vince Patriarco, Madison Dorschutz and Katelyn Lucas. Susan Baranek is the science department chairperson/advisor to the team.
