Midway ISD psychologist lauded by state association

From staff reports

Waco Tribune-Herald

Texas Association of School Psychologists named Midway Independent School District’s psychologist, Mark Pantle, as outstanding school psychologist of the year this week for his years of service uplifting students and co-workers, district officials announced in a statement.

“Dr. Pantle has invested in the lives of emotionally and behaviorally challenged students, many of whom have made tremendous progress over the course of their years at Midway. He also pours into teachers, providing them with the strategies and tools they need to support students in the general education classroom,” said Lindsay Shockley, an evaluation specialist for Midway ISD, who nominated Pantle for the award.

This accolade surprised Pantle, who recently announced his retirement after 15 years with the district.

“I’m grateful, certainly, and it is an honor, but I was never expecting this recognition,” he said.

Pantle earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Wyoming and is a licensed specialist in school psychology.

He served as a consultant for 11 agencies in three states, presented at 20 psychology conferences and has 19 peer-reviewed publications, according to Midway’s statement.

Pantle said he appreciates the support he has received from the district and that he is going to miss working in education when he retires.

“I’ve worked in public psychiatric hospitals and private hospitals. I was a professor at Baylor, and I’ve worked in a juvenile prison. Working at Midway is the best job I’ve ever had,” Pantle said.
