Michael J. Davies, Ph.D., 71, Of Norwalk, Clinical Psychologist

NORWALK, Conn. - Michael J. Davies, Ph.D., of Norwalk died July, 23. He was 71.

Davies was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Wellington, New Zealand, and came to the U.S. in the 1970s to study. He was a clinical psychologist with a practice in Norwalk. His early life and education took place in New Zealand, followed by academic training at St. Mary’s in Ballarat, Australia. Hhe completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University. He did post graduate training at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy where he also taught for many years. He was a past president and a member of Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology (CSPP). Most recently he has done study and speaking related to Jacques Lacan in both New York and Paris.

Davies is survived by his wife, Katherine Brubaker Davies; daughter, Christina; son, Adam; sisters, Mary Porter in New Zealand and Gabrielle McIvor of Australia; and in-laws, Monsignor George Brubaker of Newark, Del., Theresa and Stephen Ullman of Hamden.

Calling hours are Aug. 3 between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Norwalk Inn, 99 East Ave., Norwalk. A memorial service will follow at 3 until 4 p.m.
