Met Police boss Jim Cooper is hoping his charges take a strong mental attitude fuelled by their pre-season form into this weekend’s Ryman Premier kick-off.

The Met go to Enfield Town on Saturday having won seven out of eight pre-season games, scoring 21 goals and conceding only three – including a 0-0 draw with Skrill South new boys Whitehawk on Monday night.

He said: “The draw against Whitehawk has proved to the players that they can compete with some very good sides, and it is that ‘hard to beat’ psychology that I want to take into the season.

“We have always been hard to break down, but our new signings Ricardo Joseph and Max Fitzgerald at the back have been tremendous for us.

“I still have an eye on one more defender, who will bring some experience to the back, but right now we have good competition for places and we’re in a good place.”
