James S. Pruiett

Dr. James S. Pruiett, 68, of Hixson, died on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at a local hospital.

He was born in Concordia, KS, on March 3, 1945, to the late James Edward and Helen Deiter Pruiett.

Dr.  Pruiett graduated from Sacramento State College with a BA in 1967 and  a MA in Psychology in 1968. He then graduated from the University of Georgia with a PhD in Psychology in 1971.

As a psychologist, he was in private practice in Chattanooga for over 30 years. Jim enjoyed fly fishing and sailing.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Collins; daughter, Megan Pruiett (Geordie Martinez) of San Francisco; sons, Aron Pruiett of San Francisco, and Josh Pruiett of Greenville, NC; sister, Ann Davis  (Larry) of Paradise, CA; step-daughter, Kelly Crinnion (Walter) of Fountain Hills, AZ; step-son, Brian Frye (Merna) of Haymarket, VA; grandchildren, Imogen Martinez, San Francisco,CA; August Martinez, San Francisco,CA; Kate Crinnion, Fountain Hills; AZ; uncle, John Deiter (Dolores) of Tampa, FL, sister- in- law, Kay Sparks (Mike) of Bald Head Island, NC, former spouse, Margaret Pruiett, Athens, GA  and special friends, Jim, Gary and Tom.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
