Concordia University offers new degree programs in 2014

The Bachelor of Arts degree will be offered to students in a classroom setting on the main campus, located at 11400 Concordia University Drive. The Master of Education in sports administration program will be available as an online course and in a classroom setting at Austin and Anderson high schools.

“Introducing the psychology degree and the sports administration program to our growing student population demonstrates that Concordia professors and staff are listening to our students and their educational wants and needs,” Provost Alan Runge said.

The psychology program is designed to be completed in four years, and a writing portfolio is required to graduate. The program will teach students about theoretical perspectives, scientific methods and procedures, scientific writing in psychology and more.

The Master of Education in sports administration program is designed to be completed in two years and will include classes one evening per week or online. The program includes courses in leadership, law, organizational behavior, human resources, finance, planning and marketing. To be eligible for the program, a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited or recognized foreign institution of higher education is required.

Applicants are not required to take the Graduate Records Examination for the program. Students who apply must have obtained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 grading scale) from the institution that granted the student’s bachelor degree.

The Master of Education in sports administration program is pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, according to Concordia. Concordia will also begin offering its Bachelor of Arts degree in communication through the university’s accelerated degree program at its main campus in Austin and at its remote centers in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about the university’s programs is invited to attend Concordia’s Winter Preview event Dec. 6. Registration information is available on University website.
