Several area residents earned degrees after the spring semester at Western Illinois University.

From Frankfort: Kristina Leigh Kahlhammer, Bachelor of Arts in Communication; Caroline E Laird, (Cum Laude), Bachelor of Science - Psychology; Kyle Jon Piotrowski, Bachelor of Business - Marketing; Kathryn Jeanne Post, Bachelor of Science - Dietetics; and Joann Stacey Waclawek, Master of Science - Sport Management.

From Manhattan: Zane Robert Roth, Bachelor of Science - Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.

Rome, Assisi, and Florence were destinations for the Lewis University Travel Study trip May 9-19. For more than a decade, the Italian travel study trip has been a cornerstone of the Lewis University Study Abroad program. This year, the program included 20 students enrolled in either Theology Professor Dr. Dominic Colonna's Christian Faith and the Arts course or in History Professor Dr. Dennis H. Cremin's Culture and Civilization I or Ancient World course. Nicole Ware of Peotone was one of the Lewis University students on the travel study trip.

Kyle Forsythe and Anthony Skrapits, both of Manhattan, have been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Ashley Love of Peotone and Mark Lipinski of Manhattan were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.

Michaela Minock of Peotone has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Iowa State University in Ames, where she is majoring in food science.

Danielle Bezanson of Peotone was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
