CityViews 5/3/12: Healing a Broken Heart/Children’s Voices

Segment 1:

A broken heart may be just a metaphor, but neurologically the emotional pain of heartbreak and mourning can feel like torture. On Thursday, we’re talking about the psychology of lost love and new ways to heal a broken heart.

Guests:

  • Dr. Ginette Paris, author of “Heartbreak”
  • Machiel Klerk, Jung Society of Utah

Dr. Ginette Paris will present the lecture “Love and Heartbreak” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 4 at the IJ Jeanne Wagner Jewish Community Center. On Saturday, May 5, Paris presents the workshop “Deepening Love Through Heartbreak” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. More information at the Jung Society of Utah.

 

Segment 2:

From folk songs of Japan to tunes of Latin America, the Salt Lake Children’s Choir will take listeners on a musical journey when it returns to the stage for its annual spring concert. On Thursday, founder and director Ralph Woodward joins us to talk about the unique qualities of children’s voices.

The Salt Lake Children’s Choir Spring Concerts will be Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, South Temple and C Street, Salt Lake City. Tickets are $8 ($6 for students) and are available at Day Murray Music, at the door or by calling (801) 537-1412.

Admission is open to those over 6 years of age.
