--> The Depart-ment of Psychology University of Peshawar observed World Mental Health Day by organising a variety of events. To create awareness about the trauma caused by psychological disorders, and remedies to overcome them, the students of the department visited various UoP admin offices and departments, where they distributed pamphlets and message cards.

A one day psychology clinic was set up on the day where free treatment were given to people suffering from mental problems including anxiety, depression and fear phobia etc Owing to the prevailing wave of terrorism in KP, one out of every two individual residing here is facing some sought of psychological disorder, said Chairperson Department of Psychology Dr Erum Irshad while addressing a ceremony on the day.

She added that apart from the vulnerable law and order situation, the main cause of mental problems are linked with lack of education, unemployment, cultural disparities and misbalance in the society. Joint family system is another cause of this disorder, as predominantly it has been observed that bread earners are less and those eating them are more, opined Dr Erum.
