If you have a blog, YouTube channel or Facebook page, we’re sure that someone has warned you about the comments—whatever you do, don't read them, as some of can be vile and hurtful. 

Trolls are just waiting for a bite. Some of them won’t even mean to act like trolls, but they end up being perceived as such because their comments may trigger the nasty effect—and the nastier the comments, the more polarised the response to the content will be, explains Vanessa in the video.

These comments, however, can have a negative effect on videos or posts that are just trying to communicate science or important social issues—even worse, the original messages of the post or video could be misinterpreted.
