UW Trustees Approve Personnel Appointments

September 10, 2012 — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees approved
the following appointments during its September meeting.

Administrative Appointments

Government and Community Affairs

Christopher Boswell as vice president of
government and community affairs. Boswell received a B.A. in broadcasting and
an M.A. (1989) in journalism from UW. He has more than 32 years of experience
in public and governmental relations, including service as assistant press
secretary to former U.S. Senator Malcolm Wallop; news director of KUGR Radio in
Green River; elected representative in the Wyoming State Legislature; and chief
of staff to former Gov. Dave Freudenthal. Boswell has most recently served as
the director of the Department of Administration and Information for the state
of Wyoming.

Student Affairs

Michelle C. Dodd as director of the
Admissions Office. Dodd received a B.S. (1993) in business administration and a
master’s degree in public administration (2001) from UW. She has served as an assistant
to the vice president for Student Affairs, associate director of Admissions,
co-acting registrar, associate registrar, and degree analyst in the Office of
the Registrar at UW the past 12 years.

Keith Evashevski as director of the
University Counseling Center. Evashevski earned an M.A. degree in clinical
psychology (1995) and a Psy.D. degree in clinical psychology (1998) from the
Georgia School of Professional Psychology and a B.A. degree in psychology from
the University of Dallas. He has served as interim director, associate director,
senior psychologist and psychologist at UW’s Counseling Center. Previously, he
held counseling positions at Northwest Missouri State University and Southern
Illinois University.

Faculty Appointments

American
Heritage Center -- Amanda Stow as assistant archivist for the American Heritage
Center. She received a B.A. (2004) in art from Colorado State University, and
an M.L.I.S. (2007) in library and information science from the University of
Denver. She has been at the American Humane Association as an
archivist/records/digital collections manager since 2008.

of Molecular Biology

Grant
Bowman as assistant professor. Bowman received a B.S. (1997) in cell
development biology from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. (2004) in
molecular genetics and cell biology from the University of Chicago. Bowman has
been a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University's School of Medicine since
2005.

Jason
Gigley as assistant professor. Gigley received a B.S. (1994) in marine and
freshwater biology from the University of New Hampshire, and a Ph.D. (2007) in
microbiology and immunology from Dartmouth Medical School. He has been a postdoctoral
fellow at George Washington University Medical Center since 2007.

Department
of History -- Renee Laegreid as associate professor. Laegreid received a B.A.
(1982) from Washington State University, an M.A.L.S. (1994) in American studies
from Wesleyan University, and a Ph.D. (2002) in history from the University of
Nebraska. Laegreid has been an associate professor at Hastings College since
2007.

Department
of Mathematics -- Zhuang Niu as assistant professor. Niu received a B.S. (1998)
in applied mathematics, an M.S. (2001) in mathematics from Wuhan University,
and a Ph.D. (2005) in mathematics from the University of Toronto. Niu has been
an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at
Memorial University of Newfoundland.

of Music -- Chi-Chen Wu as assistant professor. Wu received a BFA (1997) in music
from National Taiwan Normal University, a Master of Music (2001 and 2002) in
piano performance and collaborative piano from the New England Conservatory,
and a Ph.D. of Music (2006) in collaborative piano from the New England
Conservatory. Wu has been a lecturer at Susquehanna University since 2010.

of Political Science -- Douglas Oxley as assistant professor. Oxley received a
B.A. (1991) in political science, an M.A. (1994) in economics, and a Ph.D.
(2010) in political science, all from the University of Nebraska. Oxley has been a postdoctoral
research associate at Texas AM since 2010.

Department
of Psychology -- Joshua Clapp as instructor. Clapp received a B.A. (2003) in psychology
from UW, and both his M.A. (2008) and Ph.D. (expected 2012) in clinical psychology from
State University of New York at Buffalo. Clapp has been a clinical psychology
intern with Traumatic Stress Emphasis since 2011.

of Accounting -- James Sims as assistant professor. Sims received a B.A. (1990)
in accounting and accounting information systems from the University of West
Florida, an M.S. in accountancy (2007) from the University of Central Arkansas,
and a Ph.D. (2012) in accounting from the University of Mississippi. He has
been a teaching assistant at the University of Mississippi since 2008.

of Economics and Finance -- Eli Beracha as assistant professor. Beracha
received a B.S. (2002) in computer engineering, an M.A. (2005) in economics,
and a Ph.D. (2007) in finance, all from the University of Kansas. Beracha has been
an assistant professor at East Carolina University since 2007.

Andrew
Arnette as assistant professor. Arnette received a B.S. (2000) in management
science and information technology; an M.B.A. (2002) in information systems and
technology; and a Ph.D. (2010) in management science, all from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University. Arnette has been an assistant professor at
Providence College's School of Business since 2010.

Bruce
(Jaron) Harvey as assistant professor. Harvey received a B.S. (2006) in
international business from Utah Valley University, and a Ph.D. (2010) in organizational
behavior/human resource management from the University of Oklahoma. Harvey has
been an assistant professor at the University of Alabama since 2010.

Kelly
Tian as professor. Tian received a B.S. (1982) and an M.A. (1985) in marketing
from the University of Alabama, and a Ph.D. (1991) in marketing from Georgia
State University. Tian has been a research chair in marketing at Deakin
University in Melbourne, Australia since 2011. Tian was hired at the rank of professor
with tenure.

of Educational Studies -- Aurora Chang as assistant professor. Chang received a
B.A. (1995) in English literature from the University of California Berkeley,
an M.E. (1996) in secondary teaching of English as a second language from
Stanford University, and a Ph.D. (2010) in Cultural Studies in Education from
the University of Texas. Chang has been an adjunct professor at Beloit College
since 2010.

Jacqueline
Leonard as professor. Leonard received a B.A. (1981) in elementary education
from Saint Louis University, an M.A.T. (1991) in mathematical sciences from
the University of Texas, Dallas; an M.T.S. (1994) in theology from Southern
Methodist University, and a Ph.D. (1997) in mathematics education from the
University of Maryland at College Park. Leonard has been a professor at the University
of Colorado, Denver since 2011. Leonard was hired at the rank of professor with
tenure.

Dana
Robertson as assistant professor. Robertson received a B.A. (1996) in music performance
from Berklee College of Music, an M.Ed. (2001) in elementary education from the
University of Massachusetts, and an Ed.D. (2012) in developmental studies:
literacy and language from Boston University. Robertson has been an instructor
at Boston University since 2009.

of Electrical and Computer Engineering -- Dongliang Duan as assistant professor.
Duan received a B.E. (2006) in electrical engineering from Huazhong University
of Science and Technology, an M.S. (2009) in electrical and computer engineering
from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. (2012) in electrical and computer engineering
from Colorado State University. Duan has been a research assistant at Colorado
State University since 2010.

Dai as assistant professor. Dai received a B.S. in education (2007) in exercise
science, an M.S. (2009) in kinesiology from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D.
(2012) in human movement science from the University of North Carolina. Bai has
been a research assistant at Duke University since 2009.

Emily Guseman as instructor. Guseman
received a B.S. (2003) in kinesiology from The Pennsylvania State, an M.A.
(2005) in exercise and sport science from the University of North Carolina, and
a Ph.D. (expected 2012) in kinesiology from Michigan State University. Guseman
has been a pediatric research fellow at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners
Helen DeVos Children's Hospital since 2011.

Division of Social Work

Keith Miller as interim director. Miller
received a B.S. (1965) in English, an M.A. (1967) in communication, and a Ph.D.
(1970) in communication from Bowling Green State University. Miller has been a professor
and emeritus professor at UW since 1972.

Valerie
Thompson-Ebanks as assistant professor. Thompson-Ebanks received a B.S. (2002)
and a M.S.W. (2007) in social work from the University of West Indies, and a
Ph.D. (2012) in education and human resource Studies from Colorado State
University. Thompson-Ebanks was an assistant lecturer in the UW Division of
Social Work since 2011.

Karnes Oland as clinical assistant professor. Oland received a B.S. (1997) in
molecular biology, and an M.D. (2001) from the University of Washington School
Of Medicine. Karnes Oland has worked at the Community Health Center of Central
Wyoming in Casper since 2004.

Janna
Crumpton as clinical assistant professor. Crumpton received a Pharm.D. (2011)
from Creighton University. Crumpton has been a pharmacy practice resident at
Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Colorado since 2011.

Biehle as clinical assistant professor. Biehle received a Pharm.D. (2010) from
the University of Georgia. Biehle has been in the postgraduate rear two
infectious diseases pharmacotherapy residency program at the University of
Houston since 2011.

Brown as assistant professor. Brown received a B.S. (2002), and a Ph.D. (2008)
in neuroscience, both from Washington State University. Brown has been a postdoctoral
associate at Brown University since 2009.

Staubach as assistant professor. Staubach received a B.A. (1973) in chemistry
and biology from the University of Dayton, an M.D. (1981) from the University
of Cincinnati, and an M.B.A. (1989) from Xavier University. Staubach has been
the principal and founder of Staubach Healthcare Group since 2007.

Thompson as clinical assistant professor. Thompson received a B.S. (2004) in chemistry
from Regis University, and a Pharm.D. (2010) from the University of Colorado
School of Pharmacy. Thompson has been at the University of Colorado Hospital
since 2011.

Jeremy
Vandiver as clinical assistant professor. Vandiver received a B.A. (2006) in sociology,
and a Pharm.D. (2010), both from the University of Colorado. Vandiver has been a pharmacy
resident at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado since 2010.

Kenneth Chestek as assistant professor. Chestek
received a B.A. (1975) in English from Pennsylvania State University, and a
J.D. (1979) from the University of Pittsburgh Law School. Chestek has been a clinical

Swanborn as assistant extension professor. Swanborn received a B.S. (2009) in

the Agricultural Education Department at Iowa State University since 2010.

Brian Lee as research assistant. Lee received a B.S. (2010) in agricultural

a doctor of arts fellow at Idaho State University since 2009.

Department of Psychology -- Tara Clapp as assistant
lecturer. Clapp received a B.A. (2005) in psychology from the University at
Buffalo, State University of New York, and an M.S. (2010) in psychology from
Niagara University. Clapp has been a school psychology specialist at Forrest
City School District since 2010.

Statistics -- Scott Crawford as assistant lecturer.
Crawford received a B.S. (2004) in statistics from Southern Utah University, an

Religious Studies Program -- Mary Keller as
assistant lecturer. Keller received a B.A. (1987) in religion from Williams
College, and an M.A. (1992) and  Ph.D. (1998) in religion, both from Syracuse University. Keller has been an adjunct professor at UW since 2002.

WySac (Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center) -- Bistra Anatchkova as interim director. Anatchkova received
a B.S.Ec. (1975) in political economy and sociology from the Higher School
Economics in Sofia, Bulgaria; and a Ph.D. (1986) in Sociology of Work from the
Institute of Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia, Bulgaria. Anatchkova
has been a Survey Research Center Manager at WYSAC since 2000.

Division of Social Work -- Carolyn Haney as
associate lecturer. Haney received a B.A. (1993) from Chadron State College,
and a B.S.W. (2000) from the University of Wyoming. Haney has been a
non-extended term associate lecturer in the Division of Social Work at UW since
2009.

School of Pharmacy -- David Bruch as assistant
lecturer. Bruch received a B.S. (1998) in mathematics, and a Pharm.D. (2010), both
from UW. Bruch has been a staff pharmacist at Express Pharmacy since 2010.

Outreach Credit Program -- Christine Boggs as
assistant lecturer. Boggs received a B.S. (1992) in biology, an M.S. (2000) in
