THREE University of the Sunshine Coast researchers hope their studies will help children with high functioning autism or Asperger's syndrome.

Associate lecturer in psychology Michelle Curran will lead master of psychology (clinical) students Bree Campbell and Ray Inkpen in the research.

Dr Curran said children would listen to electronically altered music through headphones to assist them in processing the world around them.

"This is used world-wide by therapists who report seeing benefits in the areas of anxiety, attention and emotional regulation," she said.

The team is seeking Sunshine Coast participants for the home-based project. Par
