HSU presentations

The Hardin-Simmons University Department of Psychology recently presented certificates to family psychology graduate students who have completed at least 30 hours with a GPA of at least 3.75. Area students receiving the honor were Veronica Aguirri, of Abilene; Haylee Bench, of Abilene; and Kristie Story, of Tuscola.

The department also presented scholarships for significant academic achievement at its annual psychology honors banquet. Amanda Lanford, of Abilene, received the Stone Scholarship; and Anthony Ooi, also of Abilene, received the Pearson Scholarship.

Also at the banquet, Haylee Bench, of Abilene, received the award for outstanding achievement in family psychology.

Abilene Education Foundation awards scholarships

The Abilene Education Foundation recently announced that 32 students in the Abilene Independent School District will receive a total of $53,450 in scholarships funded through the AEF; alumni of Abilene and Cooper high schools; the Brelex Memorial Scholarship; Citizens Bank of Abilene; various donor-directed scholarships; the Meta Alice Keith Bratten Foundation; My Heroes Have Always Worn Hairnets (School Nutrition Association of Abilene); the Johnny Ortega Jr. Memorial Scholarship; the AISD Transportation Department; the Young Masters Juried Art Exhibition; and others.
