FROM engineering and surveying to science and psychology there is groundbreaking research being undertaken at Springfield each day.

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Springfield campus is inviting business and the local community to see first-hand many of the research projects across all faculties and research centres at USQ's annual Community Engaged Research Evening on Thursday, February 9 from 6pm.

Springfield campus director Doug Fraser said the evening would provide members of the community with an opportunity to engage with USQ academic staff.

"They will also gain an understanding of the kind of research being conducted at the campus and discuss possible avenues for collaboration," he said.

"Research topic areas that will be showcased during the evening include engineering and surveying, business and technology, sustainability and building resilient communities, science and psychology, education and learning and teaching."

Mr Fraser said research at USQ is done with the community in mind but in many cases the public did not have an understanding of what was done at the university.

"This is a chance to put on display our different research projects and strengthen our bonds within the Western Corridor," he said.

"It also gives researchers, local businesses and the community an opportunity to interact and this can lead to new research that benefits both the community and USQ."
