TUNGKILLO triplets the King sisters reckon Year 12 has been more stressful for mum and dad than for them.

Amber, Cyndal and Tara, all Birdwood High students, seem remarkably relaxed going into the major written exam period which starts on Monday.

While the girls have leant on each other for support, they have largely hunkered down separately in their rooms to study, and give their parents plenty of credit for keeping them focused.

“Mum said routine straight away — you just have to get into a routine,” Amber said.

Cyndal added: “They always give you hugs and calm you down. They want us to strive for our goals and be happy.”

Students will tackle more than 1600 questions and question parts in 36 exams over the next three weeks.

More than 4250 will sit the Mathematical Applications paper on Thursday, making it the most popular exam subject, while Legal Studies, English as a Second Language and Psychology have the biggest percentage gains in enrolments this year.

Maths and science subjects dominate the most popular exam combinations. Cyndal will take the English Studies exam today and has Psychology and Mathematical Studies later this week.

“English is my better one. I feel good about it (but) I’m more concerned about the time limit. You have to do two whole essays and a critical reading,” she said.

Tara has Psychology, Mathematics Applications and Physical Education to prepare for, while Amber is swatting for Biology and Mathematics Applications.

The triplets, 18, who play netball for Lobethal Tigers and have three older brothers, are looking forward to spending some time at a friend’s house at Normanville instead of going to schoolies.

The girls have balanced their studies with part-time jobs assembling micro-irrigation systems for Antelco, working from home.

Cyndal aims to study professional writing and journalism at UniSA next year and Tara wants to do a police studies course at TAFE.

Amber, who already has a Certificate II in animal studies, is weighing up her options and looking to volunteer at Cleland Wildlife Park.
