Director of Admissions

The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) in Arlington, VA (www.ipsciences.edu) invites applications for the full-time position of Director of Admissions. IPS is a free-standing Catholic professional school offering Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Recruiting: Developing strategies, systems and networks to meet annual enrollment goals in quality and quantity of new students.

2. Enrollment: Work with Student Services, Financial Aid and other departments to offer programs and activities that ensure a positive student experience.

3. Promotion: effectively telling the IPS story to a variety of audiences through the IPS website, e-newsletters, print materials, etc. to attract incoming students, online education participants, and donors.

4. Financial Aid: liaise with the Financial Aid department to ensure compliance as well as initiative in assisting students in funding their education.

Experience required:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications or related field and a minimum of five years working in admissions and recruiting, enrollment promotion, and program coordination, or a related field. Basic knowledge of psychology, Catholic philosophy and theology a plus.

Strong interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to interface with diverse populations inside and outside the Institute. Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ability to travel and to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment is also required. Some evening and weekend hours are involved, especially during the travel season.
Basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and student information systems. Website management, social marketing skills a plus.
Candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% of time with a seasonal emphasis, both nationally and internationally.
This is a full-time position at the Institute’s Arlington, Virginia headquarters. Compensation, including a competitive benefits package, is based on experience and performance and is a combination of salary and incentive. IPS is an equal opportunity employer.
