Aubrey Mendez, a junior psychology major from Tye, died Saturday
at 6:30 p.m. after being struck by a train in her hometown.

According to police reports, Mendez was chasing her dog down the
tracks when she got hit.

Both Mendez and her dog, Kimbo, died instantly.

There will be a memorial service for Mendez 10:00 a.m. Friday at
the Merkel High School gymnasium, followed by the burial at Tye
Cemetery.
