SUV driven into students’ apartment

Two Ball State students arrived at their home from work to find a car had been driven into their living room at Silver Tree Apartments on Friday evening.

Junior psychology major Sara Morris said she was driving through the parking lot around 7:30 p.m. when she saw a blue SUV sticking out of her apartment living room.

She and her roommate, junior theatre studies major Bradley Wilkinson, were working when the incident happened. No one was injured.

“My first reaction was of total shock,” she said. “I wasn’t sure of what I was seeing.”

Morris said a mother of one of her neighbors drove over the curb and into the apartment when she was trying to back up to help her daughter pack.

The car was in the apartment for about an hour until it was pulled out.

Wilkinson, who was at work when he received a call from Morris, said some maintenance workers from Silver Tree Apartments patched up the area that was affected — the living room and part of his room— and that it may take a few days for the apartment to be restored.

Both Wilkinson and Morris are staying with friends and don’t know whether they will live in the restored apartment or whether they will be designated to a new apartment.
