Stull Named Director of Sports Psychology

The University of Nebraska Athletic Department recently added Dr. Todd Stull to its full-time staff as Nebraska's Director of Sports Psychology. Previously, Stull had worked as a consulting sport psychiatrist for the Huskers.

Nebraska's first full-time sports psychiatrist, Stull will work with each of the Huskers' 24 varsity sports. A leader in the sports psychiatry field, Stull will utilize his extensive knowledge and more than 20 years of psychiatric medical practice to implement programs designed to maximize the performance and well-being of each of Nebraska's more than 600 student-athletes.

"I am excited that Dr. Stull will be working with Husker student-athletes and sports teams on a full-time basis," said Steve Waterfield, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Performance and Strategic Research. "Increased access to Todd's expertise in sports performance and mental wellness will enhance the student-athlete experience and continue to position Nebraska at the forefront of sports performance and mental health resources at the collegiate level."

Stull earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is the founder of Inside Performance Mindroom, a private practice that combines performance psychiatry with the latest sport science training to offer an innovative approach to enhancing individual, team and coaching performance. In addition to working with corporate executives and physicians, Stull served as a consulting sports psychiatrist for both the Nebraska and Creighton Athletic Departments.

A board certified psychiatrist in Addiction Medicine as well as General and Addiction Psychiatry, Stull is a professional member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Association of Applied Sports Psychology and the International Society of Sports Psychiatry. Stull also serves on the NCAA Mental Health Task Force.

"The University of Nebraska Athletic Department continues to be a leader in the field of sports psychology," Stull said. "It is a privilege to be a part of Nebraska Athletic Medicine to address the mental and emotional well-being of student-athletes and to assist with mental skills training to enhance performance."

A native of Hastings, Neb., Stull earned his bachelor's degree from Hastings College, where he was a quarterback for the Broncos' football team.
