Sports Psychology

The Maryland Athletics Department partners with the University Counseling Center to provide psychological services for its student-athletes.

Sport Psychologists work within a multidisciplinary sports medicine team providing clinical care services to Maryland student-athletes.  These services include parent and student orientation, confidential personal counseling, team workshops, crisis walk-in sessions, group performance enhancement and psychological skills training, psychological rehabilitation from injury, individualized assessment, and their life skills and mental performance training, as well as consultation with coaching, medical, athletic training, and administrative staff.

 confidentiality

Information disclosed in individual counseling sessions is confidential. Information will be released only with the express written consent of the student-athlete or in instances where disclosure is required by law (e.g. threat of harm to self/others, court order, abuse of children or incapacitated adult).
