Sports Psychologist Can Take Your Game to the Next Level

Does your golf game need a tune-up?

Let's be honest: Whose doesn't?

Dr. Wes Sime, a sports psychologist and former University of Nebraska professor of Health and Human Performance, helped golfing legend Payne Stewart control his emotions and increase his confidence in March of 1999 just before he won the U.S. Open. More recently, Dr. Sime was with Esteban Toledo and Bruce Fleischer at the 2014 Toshiba Champions Tour event in Newport Beach, helping to refine subtle aspects of mental and physical preparedness for intense competition.

Greater awareness

What clients often say about the work with Dr. Sime is "The key factor was the discovery that I could become aware of being 'over-amped' and more importantly, to learn how to control my emotions and my performance."

If the golf professionals can benefit greatly from sport psychology, imagine what it can do for you, your son or your daughter.

As with any training method, the earlier it’s started the better, before more “bad habits” are developed. In any endeavor in which you seek the "extra edge" – be it golf, other sports, or in academic or career development – you'll find that the coaching you receive through Dr. Sime and ONE Way Performance Consulting will be tailored specifically to you and your needs.

Dr. Sime notes that sport psychology is just one small element of performance and that hard work with a swing coach and training physically for strength and endurance, plus lots of practice, is equally important to success and satisfaction in golf. But one element common to physical and mental training is designing “quality practice” time.

According to the ONE Way Coaching method, quality practice includes: 1) a clearly defined goal, 2) measurable outcomes and 3) appropriate consequences.

For example, today I want to develop confidence in my chipping, so I will set up both easy and difficult chipping targets from a clean lie as well as deeper rough. When I have made three consecutive successful (or acceptable) chips from the easy-shot location, I move up to the more difficult challenge and switch back and forth in accordance with how well each shot turns out.

All ages, abilities

We all need a little help now and then.

Dr. Sime derives as much pleasure from working with kids and amateurs as he does with pros and Olympians. Having worked alongside the likes of Nebraska coaching legend Dr. Tom Osborne and former Cincinnati Reds All-Star MLB first baseman Sean Casey, Dr. Sime is happy to work with anyone who seeks the professional coaching necessary to attain improved performance.

Results vary for each person, but you'll discover that the coaching you receive at ONE Way is tailored specifically to you and your needs. Every possible resource is brought to the table for your benefit.
