SLT launches Liyasevana for women

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel introduced an exclusive package "Liyasevana"
for Sri Lankan women as a tribute to their remarkable contribution to
society in line with the International Women's Day yesterday.

This special package will empower the women with easy access to
information relating to Child Psychology, Cerebral Palsy, Maternal and
New Born Health and Cancer Awareness.

The launching ceremony was held at Temple Trees under the patronage
of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Telecommunication and Information
Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Sri Lanka Telecom Chief
Executive Officer Lalith De Silva.

Mobitel Customer care Senior General Manager Jean Fernandez pointed
out that, all customers below 65 would be covered with a special life
insurance cover. The premium for the insurance cover is included into
the monthly rental which is provided at a nominal fee. Mobitel 'Liyasevana'
customers will be able to enjoy the benefits of a Rs.100,000 worth of
life insurance cover and Rs. 500,000 accidental death cover, she said.

"Liyasevana" package is inclusive of a limited bundle offer granting
free Mobitel to Mobitel voice calls and SMS to its users and a free data
bundle of 10 MB. All customers are entitled to free minutes access to
the "Liyasevana" voice portal, and use the m Tunes facility free of
monthly subscription, she said.

She further said the package was created to empower women by granting
unlimited and convenient access to information as many women in rural
areas have no access to information on maternal health, child psychology
and cancer awareness, she added.

Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith
Siyambalapitiya said women in Sri Lanka find themselves playing the
demanding roles of daughter, wife, mother, friend and caregiver in
society and attend to varying situations in their daily routine.

The minister said today women have excelled in every sphere. Women
have showcased their abilities in almost every aspects what men are
capable of, he said.

Dr. Jayantha Balawardena said many women are victimized by diseases
due to their lack of awareness and social stigma attached with the
deceases.

But this package would enable them to gain free advice through mobile
phones, he said.
