Scientists Discover Secret Of True Love

A wise man once said that the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. Let’s hope he wasn’t a heart surgeon. Anyway, it turns out that the wise man wasn’t quite so wise after all, as a new study’s revealed that it’s not taste that holds the key to a happy and lasting relationship, but your sense of smell.

The study, featured in the journal Biological Psychology, uncovered that people born without a sense of smell lacked confidence and had, on average, two relationships compared with the people-with-fully-functioning-nostrils average of ten. We’ve had, well, let’s just say it’s more than ten partners but that’s got less to do with smell and more to do with a mis-spent weekend at Glastonbury.

And, according to the Independent on Sunday, 13 per cent of men and 52 per cent of women have slept in their partner's clothing because of the aroma. We often dress up in our partner’s clothes but that’s got nothing to do with the smell and we only do it at the weekends while they’re out getting their nails done, honest. And another study also uncovered that odour is more important to women than looks.

So, in other words, if your face looks like one of the items they made Ashley eat on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, don’t worry. Just slap on some aftershave or perfume and you’ll be laughing all the way to the bedroom. Talking of aftershave and perfume, it’s strange that this study comes out just before peak aftershave/perfume buying time, aka Christmas, eh?

By the way, The Daily Slap’s resident dog’s got no nose. How does he smell? Well, he’s got an app on his smartphone that does it for him. It’s amazing what you can download these days.
