NEWPORT, R.I. -- The following local residents were awarded degrees during Salve Regina University's 64th commencement May 18:

* Alexander Fredette of Westminster was awarded a bachelor of arts in psychology summa cum laude. Fredette received the Helene Kelly Burrell Award in Psychology. He is a member of Psi Chi national honor society for psychology, and Sigma Phi Sigma national honor society of the Religious Sisters of Mercy.

* Jessica McClellan of Lancaster was awarded a master of business administration.

* Sarah Wood of Lunenburg was awarded a bachelor of science in nursing.
