Responsibilities:

Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology, beginning Fall 2016. Faculty contractual responsibilities require a teaching load of six courses in the academic year.

The responsibilities for this position will include teaching sections of Clinical Psychology and Introductory Psychology. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach other courses as well, potentially including Psychology of the Family, Theories of Counseling, and/or The Exceptional Individual. It is anticipated the person in this position will also teach in the College’s signature Collegiate Seminar and Jan Term programs.

Other duties include: Maintaining an ongoing research program into which SMC student researchers can be integrated. Identifying field placements and similar experiences for undergraduate students interested in the fields of clinical and counseling psychology. Participation in departmental and college activities including committee work and curriculum development is expected. The candidate should have a strong commitment to academic advising and mentoring to a diverse student population.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of the College, which is informed, animated and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts traditions.

Experience and Qualifications:

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA-accredited institution must be completed by December 2016. Candidates should have a record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, with preference given to those candidates who have successfully taught the courses listed above.

Particular consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated commitment and success working in diverse, multicultural communities, in higher education settings.

Candidates should be committed to a liberal arts education, and should demonstrate a commitment to research and professional activity. In addition, candidates should have appreciation of and deep respect for the learning/teaching environment and for the students, staff, and faculty who comprise it and the willingness to become a stakeholder in the Lasallian commitment to that environment.
