BOZEMAN, Montana — A clinical psychologist and retired University of Massachusetts professor is urging campuses to more thoroughly investigate date rape reports to make sure it's not a pattern of behavior.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/13hDes9) David Lisak spoke Monday at the 2013 Statewide Summit on Sexual Assault, held at Montana State University in Bozeman.

He says studies of Boston students in 2002 and Navy recruits in 2009 found that at least 90 percent of rapes committed by men who acknowledged forcing a woman to have sex or having sex with a woman who was too intoxicated to consent, were committed by serial rapists

Lisak said if a student was caught selling drugs, police would suspect there had been more than one sale, but when a student is accused of date rape, police tend to assume it's a one-time mistake.
