Ulric (Dick) Neisser Memorial Celebration

Cornell University will hold a memorial celebration for Ulric (Dick Neisser) (1928-2012), professor emeritus of psychology, 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 14 at Sage Chapel.

A reception in Uris Hall will follow.

Resurrection Concert on

Community Faith Partners presents a concert for the whole community "Resurrection: the Passion the Power" 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, Christ Chapel, 160 Graham Road.

This performance will feature choirs and musicians from Bethel Grove Bible Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Christ Chapel, Danby Federated Church, Reach Out for Christ, and the Ithaca Salvation Army.

All musicians will join in a massed choir at the end of the program, singing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.

An offering will be taken to support the work of the Community Faith Partnership in our community.

Soup n' Sandwich Luncheon

Burdett Presbyterian Church will hold a Soup n' Sandwich Luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 21 at 3995 Church St., Burdett.

Homemade soups, Reubens and made-to-order sandwiches, dessert and beverage.

Admission is $6 per person. Take-out is available.

Worship Band from Hope Church to Play

Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Ithaca is celebrating 50 years of service to its community and the world. As part of the year long celebration, Trinity will host the worship band from Hope Church in Rochester. Services will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 29.

Hope Church is the largest Lutheran congregation in the Eastern District. The pastor who helped to build Hope Church for over three decades is Rev. Dr. Arthur Dueker, (pastor Emeritus).

The worship band and Dr. Dueker will be sharing the many and creative ways that Hope church works with the people of Rochester and beyond to serve them in faith, including: an oil changing ministry; coffee house; and initiating a feature film (to be released in theaters soon).

'Fireplace' services held in Lansing

The Lansing United Methodist Church will host weekly "Fireplace" contemporary worship services from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday nights. The service features modern praise music, fellowship and food in a relaxed atmosphere. All are invited to attend the services held at the Lansing United Methodist Church, located on Route 34B and Brickyard Road in Lansing.

Volunteers requested

Volunteers are needed at the Immaculate Conception Inspirational Gift Shop at 107 W. Seneca St., Ithaca. Volunteers are needed to run the scanning register and help customers on one Saturday a month from noon to 4:30 p.m. Free parking is included. Donation challenge for Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard

Every year during the months of March and April, the Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard, along with a number of other area food pantries, participates in the nation-wide Feinstein Million Dollar Challenge. Any food or monetary donations received at the Cupboard during these two months will increase the Cupboard's portion of the Feinstein grant.

A program of Area Congregations Together since 1969, the Ithaca Kitchen Cupboard distribute three days' worth of nutritionally balanced groceries to eligible households in the City and Town of Ithaca. The Cupboard is organized and staffed entirely by volunteers from the 24 local congregations, which support it with donations of food and money.

Monetary donations can be made to P.O. Box 608, Ithaca, NY 14851. Food donations, especially canned vegetables and fruits, dried and canned soups and pastas, canned dinners, meats and fish, and peanut butter, can be dropped off any weekday from 9 a.m. to noon inside the Salvation Army building, 150 North Albany St., Ithaca.

Free meals at St. John's, Loaves Fishes

Free daily meals are served at Loaves and Fishes Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m., St. John's Church, 210 N. Cayuga St. No income guidelines. All are welcome.
