‘Psychology: What’s the next big thing?’ BPS supported London event

The impact of current psychological research and recent discoveries about how our minds influence our behaviour are two of the topics being discussed at a Science Museum event tonight at the Dana Centre in London.

The fully booked event ‘Psychology: What’s the next big thing?’ is part of the Science Museum’s ‘Mind Maps: Stories from Psychology’ programme, which is supported by the British Psychological Society.

During the evening guests will have the opportunity to meet scientists whose research could inform the future of psychology and judge their powers of persuasion. This will involve roundtable chats with each of the psychologists after which guests will vote for their top three. The three with the most votes will then give a one-minute presentation summing up their research and the audience will then vote again for the ultimate winner.

The psychologists attending are:

• Daniel Frings, London South Bank University

• Johanna Spiers, Birkbeck University

• Katie Slocombe, University of York

• Keon West, Goldsmiths, University of London

• Natasha Madhewoo, University of Westminster

• Sonja Carmichael, City University London

• Tom Manly, Medical Research Council

• Vivien Ainley, Royal Holloway, University of London

This event is now fully booked, with a waiting list in operation. New places may become available with cancellations. To be placed on the waiting list, please register your interest here

‘Mind Maps: Stories from Psychology’ is also the focus of a BPS supported free exhibition at the Science Museum that is running until August 2014. Opening Hours: 10.00-18.00, Monday-Sunday at the Science Museum, Exhibition Road, London, SW7 2DD.
