Psychology student stabbed ex-flatmate on trip to safari park

A university student stabbed his former flatmate in the neck, causing life-threatening injuries, during a visit to a safari park.

Christopher Blaikie, 24, knifed Claire Mazzucchi, 22, as she sat eating lunch at Blair Drummond safari park, near Stirling, on March 30.

A judge heard how the pair, who were both studying psychology at Stirling University, had been flatmates but Ms Mazzucchi moved out because she felt uneasy living with Blaikie.

Blaikie, 24, said that he experienced “homicidal thoughts” before attacking his fellow student with a four-inch knife he kept in his rucksack.
