Psychology professor at Troy University-Opelika found dead in her Auburn home …

AUBURN, Alabama -  A psychology professor at the Phenix City campus of Troy University was found dead at her home in Auburn on Friday night, according to a news release today from Lee County Coroner Bill Harris.

Myrna Kathryn Ness, 67, was found in the hot tub in her backyard a few minutes after 9 p.m. by the Auburn Police and East Alabama Medical Center EMS. She was unresponsive with no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lee County deputy coroner at 9:45 p.m. 

The residence is located in the 200 block of Shelton Mill Road. 

According to the news release, it is reported that Ness did not respond to phone calls from a friend and the friend went to her house to check on her. She found Ness in the hot tub and called 911.     

There is no foul play suspected at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing, and Ness's body was taken to the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences medical examiner's office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
