Psychology faculty, students present research about alcoholism

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Members of the Lycoming College psychology department presented their research at the 2013 Research Society on Alcoholism national meeting held June 22-26 in Orlando, Fla.

Psychology faculty included Rebecca Gilbertson, Ph.D., and Tina Norton, Ph.D., both assistant professors of psychology, and students Kassandra Lee, a senior from Houtzdale, and Shannon Lesher, a spring graduate, from Allen, Texas.

The research paper, “The Effectiveness of Personalized, Web-Based Alcohol Prevention: A Longitudinal Perspective,” was a product of ongoing faculty and student collaborative research in the psychology department. It was supported by a professional development grant from the college and external funding from 3rd Millennium Classrooms.

The Research Society on Alcoholism is a national organization of researchers dedicated to prevention and treatment of alcohol-related disorders. The membership of more than 1,800 is drawn from countries throughout the world, with the majority from the United States.
