Psychology Club Hosts Depression Screening

Students are showing initiative to educate others and fight stigma.

In efforts to promote awareness about depression and other mental illnesses on college campuses, the St. Ambrose Psychology Club and Psci Chi Chapter will be hosting their National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) event Thursday, Oct. 8.

At the event, students will be able to complete a psychological screening measure and receive feedback from Master's of Social Work and Counseling students about the extent to which their symptoms are suggestive of Major Depression. Although a diagnosis cannot be made during this feedback session, referral information will be given to students, when appropriate. NDSD participants will also have an opportunity to interact with club members and take home information about depression and other forms of mental illness.

The screening will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Rogalski Center food court area and again from 5-7 p.m. in the Cosgrove cafeteria.
