GREENSBORO - Psychologist Nanette Funderburke says it will be a long process for the three women in Ohio to recover.

She says it's about rebuilding their trust with humanity.

"We don't even know if they will feel close, closeness to anyone right now," she said. "Because you look at what they've endured. And they had to have some level of survival. And to survive something like that there has to be some level of dissociation from the situation. Because to connect, to feel the feelings and be a part of that is almost too much for a human to bear."

She also told us about what is wrong with a captor's mind and how they could hold someone captive for so long. Watch the extended interview.
