Psychological problems on the rise: PU VC

PUNJAB University Vice-Chancellor Mujahid Kamran has said that increase in problems of the people is affecting their minds due to which psychological problems are on the rise.

 

According to a press release on Friday, he was addressing the inaugural ceremony of new building of the Centre for Clinical Psychology near Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, New Campus.

 

Centre for Clinical Psychology’s Director Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar, former chairperson Prof Dr Rafia Hassan, Dean Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, President Pakistan Association for Clinical Psychologists Prof Dr Nashi Khan, Secretary Academic Staff Association Javed Sami, RO-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, heads of various departments, faculty members and a large number of students were also present.

 

Dr Mujahid Kamran said the subject of psychology was gaining more importance and psychologists could play their role in providing mental relief to the people.

 

Lauding the government for allocating Rs 57 billion to higher education, the VC said that the country was now inching towards betterment. He also requested the government to release the grant according to schedule. He lauded Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar for taking initiative of providing psychological aid to the victim families of tragic incident of Gujrat school van.

 

Dr Rafia Hassan, chairperson of the centre in 1984, expressed her pleasure on the establishment of the new building. In her address, she explained the design and facilities of the new building and expressed her resolve to make the CCP a progressive and dynamic institute offering quality training in clinical psychology. She said that it would have a full-fledged hospital and drug rehabilitation centre in the future. She thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for his support and Higher Education Commission for financial assistance.

 

The ceremony was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Nashi Khan. Later, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran and others visited the newly-constructed building.

In his condolence message, the VC prayed that Allah might grant courage to the members of bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

 

exam postponed: Punjab University Examinations Department has issued notification regarding date-sheet for the BS (4-year programme), 3rd semester examination, 2013.

 

According to details, the examination, on request of the affiliated colleges, has been postponed until further orders.

 

Former UHS VC: A former vice-chancellor of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has been rewarded for superlative achievements at the university.

 

According to a press release issued here Friday, Prof Malik Hussain Mubbashar, who served as VC UHS from 2003 to 2012, has been recognized with the title ‘Professor Emeritus’ by the Syndicate of the university in its 37th meeting held here on Friday.
