PSIGE members speak at national event

Members of our Division of Clinical Psychology’s Faculty of the Psychology of Older People (PSIGE) will speak on issues about dementia at the Healthcare Innovation Expo in London this week (13 and 14 March).

The event provides speakers with unique opportunities to meet, hear from and engage with the most senior leaders and decision makers in the NHS. The Prime Minister David Cameron is also attending the event.

For the first time an entire zone will showcase a dementia friendly community providing delegates with opportunities to explore and understand the solutions that can help to improve the lives of people living with dementia, in line with the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia.

PSIGE members speaking at the high profile event include:

Dr Chris Allen, Berkshire NHS: ‘Early screening for memory problems in primary care’

Professor Dawn Brooker, Director of the University of Worcester Association for Dementia Studies:  ‘What makes a real difference to people living with advanced dementia in care homes? Digging deep into care home culture'

Rachel Thompson: ‘Transforming hospital care for older people and people with dementia- challenges and solutions’

Dr Sarah Dexter-Smith: ‘Integrating psychology into dementia care provision’

Dr Arlene Astell, CATCH (Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare): ‘Ipad re: NANA project and other technologies’

Further information about the event can be found on the Expo 2013 website.
