Penn State Greater Allegheny's chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, will induct new members April 10, during a 5:45 p.m. ceremony and reception in the Traina Room, Student Community Center. The ceremony will be followed by the campus’ Honors Convocation at 7 p.m. in the Wunderley Gymnasium. 

Membership to Psi Chi is open to students who are at least second-semester sophomores, majoring or minoring in psychology with at least nine credits in psychology completed, who rank in the upper 35 percent of their class in general scholarship, earn an overall grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and a psychology GPA of at least 3.0.

Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and to advance the science of psychology. The Greater Allegheny campus chapter was installed in 2007. Psi Chi is one of the largest honor societies in the world. Chapters not only recognize academic achievement by granting membership in the society, but also sponsor programs that augment the regular curriculum, offer service to the campus and the community at large, develop leadership skills and provide fellowship through affiliation with the chapter.
