Psi Beta inducts new members, installs officers

Northeast Texas Community College recently inducted seven new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges.

Inductees included (from left): Victoria Sarmientos of Pittsburg, Jeana Bradshaw of Mount Pleasant, Noah Griffin of Pittsburg, Christopher Hamilton of Pittsburg, Heather Murrell of Gilmer, and Makayla Zacarias of Mount Pleasant. Sharla Crouch of Gilmer was also inducted, but was not present at the ceremony.

New officers were also installed. They include (from left): Victoria Sarmientos, Historian; Cody McEntire, Parliamentarian; Katie Worthey, Vice President; Dillon Gardner, President; and Lauren Fennimore, Reporter.

Psi Beta chapters sponsor programs, activities, and participation in community service projects along with opportunities topresent research papers at regional meetings, attend national meetings, and compete for national awards. Students are chosen for membership based on their outstanding overall scholarship and their scholarship in the field of psychology. Psi Beta is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society.
