Professor Aradhna Krishna Named Society of Consumer Psychology Fellow

3/25/2013 --

SCP recognizes Krishna's work in sensory marketing.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Society for Consumer Psychology has named Ross School of Business marketing professor Aradhna Krishna an SCP Fellow, the organization's highest honor, in recognition of career excellence in the field.

Krishna, the Dwight F. Benton Professor of Marketing, pioneered the field of sensory marketing and was recognized by the SCP for creating new domains in research.

"An excellent recent example is her work on sensory marketing, which brought together disparate work on the senses (conducted by researchers in psychology, physiology, biology, arts, and advertising) and channeled it into a rigorous field of consumer research," the SCP said.

Krishna's new book on sensory marketing, Customer Sense: How the Five Senses Influence Buying Behavior, is set for an April release.

"I'm truly honored to be named an SCP Fellow," Krishna says. "My career has been led by my natural curiosity. I find questions about consumer behavior fascinating and I'm dedicated to reaching across disciplines to figure out the answers. The University of Michigan, with its strength in multiple areas, is the perfect place to do such interdisciplinary work. I'm very flattered that the Society of Consumer Psychology has recognized my work."
