The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy (PPFT) had a huge turnout at the American Psychological Association's Annual Convention in Washington, D,C. A total of 32 students, faculty, and alumni represented Seton Hall and the College of Education and Human Services. Three full Counseling Psychology Ph.D. cohorts were in attendance as well as two students from the incoming class and two M.A./Ed.S. students.

PPFT students and faculty took part in poster sessions and symposia, presenting on a wide variety of topics including, LGBT issues, masculinity, trauma, mental health stigma, veterans, violence and mental illness, women, and public policy. Recent M.A./Ed.S. graduate, Michael Awad, was featured on the convention blog for his work with faculty members Dr. Margaret Farrelly and Dr. Margaret Brady-Amoon on public policy and the public perception that violent community members are mentally ill. Brienne Brown, Counseling Psychology Ph.D. student, received the Division 19 (Military Psychology) Student Travel Award for her research on women in the military. The Counseling Psychology Ph.D. '13-'14 cohort were also impressive by having all members listed on one or more presentations during their first conference attendance.

In addition to their presentations, PPFT students and faculty also tested the latest psychology software, assessments, and resources, attended a variety of programs, and even had a run in with the infamous Dr. Philip Zimbardo, best known for the Stanford Prison Experiment.
