WINNIPEG -- A man who spied on a co-worker as she showered also masturbated on her underwear in a bizarre bid to impregnate her, a court heard last week.

Glen Brandt, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism. He was manager at a hog farm where the victim worked.

"I invaded your privacy and the sacredness of marriage," said Brandt, who blamed his actions on "twisted psychology" and "spinelessness."

The offences occurred more than five years ago but only came to light in 2012 after the victim's pastor told her Brandt confessed he had "sinned against her."

Court heard Brandt had become infatuated with the victim and took to masturbating on her underwear when she showered at the end of her work shift. He admitted he "was keeping track of her menstrual cycle and was hoping she would get pregnant," Crown attorney Mitchell Lavitt told court.

The woman did have a baby approximately nine months later but DNA tests confirmed her husband was the father.

Brandt will be sentenced June 25.
