Persistent expectant mum sits online exam in between labour pains

A new mother who struggled through 20 hours of labour decided she wasn’t going to let the long birth stop her from finishing her psychology exam, completing it from her hospital bed.

University of Texas student Tommitrise Collins was having contractions three minutes apart according to her sister, Shanell Brinkley-Chapman, when she insisted on taking her test.

“This is what you call ‘Strong Priorities’,” Ms Brinkley-Chapman wrote on Facebook beside a photo of Ms Collins in a hospital bed on her laptop.

“Contractions three minutes apart and still takes her Psychology Test!

“You are going to be a great Mom baby sis!”

Ms Collins was determined to complete the test despite going into labour because the university said the exam could only be completed on that day, she told FOX 5 News.

“It took me four to five hours after the opening of the test to try to put the pain to the side and do it so I wouldn't have to do it later and I could enjoy my newborn,” Ms Collins said.

Ms Collins said even her nurse was surprised at her determination, even more so when she insisted on doing it a second time.

She wasn’t happy with the score she received the first time so she took the test again and received a ‘B’ grade.
