Penn State York to offer psychology degree programs

Penn State York has added two psychology degree programs to its academic coursework, the university said in a news release.

Beginning in fall 2015, Penn State York will offer bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in psychology. Both programs can be completed in their entirety at the York Campus, the release said.

Mark Casteel, psychology program coordinator, said in the news release that the degree programs will examine areas such as biological bases of behavior, learning and cognition, social and personality psychology and developmental psychology.

"Our psychology programs will provide an in-depth and well-rounded baccalaureate degree for those students who want to go immediately into the workplace, and will also provide an excellent foundation for those students wishing to pursue graduate work," Casteel said.

According to the news release, with the psychology programs Penn State now has 10 undergraduate programs that can be completed at the York campus.

Penn State York also offers the first two years of more than 160 Penn State majors, ten baccalaureate degrees, seven associate degrees, six minors, a master of education degree program in teaching and curriculum and a variety of continuing education programs both credit and noncredit, the news release said.
