Newsmaker: Britney Brinkman – Tribune

Noteworthy: Brinkman, assistant professor of psychology at Chatham University in Squirrel Hill, won a 2014-15 American Fellowship from the American Association of University Women to research bullying. She's using the $6,000 fellowship to complete her book, “Detection and Prevention of Identity-Based Bullying: Social Justice Perspectives,� which she expects to be published in late 2015.

Background: Before joining Chatham's faculty, Brinkman interned for the counseling center at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a licensed psychologist, co-director of Chatham's Psychology of Gender Research Team and editor for Empowertainme nt, a blog about how girls and women are portrayed in the media.

Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Utah; Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Colorado State University
